Courtney Ryan graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in disability studies, emphasis on special education. Prior to joining Direct, she lived in Los Angeles and worked as a peer mentor and research assistant at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation hospital.

Courtney also co-founded one of California’s first women’s wheelchair basketball teams. Her passion as an advocate for people with disabilities began following a spinal cord injury in college and experiencing accessibility challenges firsthand.

She is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) and dedicated to eliminating physical obstacles as well as access barriers to diversity and inclusion. In addition to working with Direct, Courtney is involved with the University of Arizona Adaptive Athletics and Southern Arizona Adaptive Sports. She is a current member of the U.S. Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball team.
