Through Direct Peer Support Program, our participant Forrest is building the skills and confidence needed to take the next step in his career.

Forrest set a goal to advocate for himself at work by requesting additional hours and pursuing further training opportunities. With the support of his peer mentor, he conducted a professional self-assessment, role-played conversations with store leadership, and developed a clear professional development plan.

As a result, Forrest confidently presented his self-assessment and growth plan to his supervisor, who expressed admiration for his commitment to expanding his job knowledge — a meaningful step forward in self-advocacy and career advancement.

Now, Forrest is giving back. He will join our weekly Job Club, a peer-to-peer Zoom group held every Wednesday morning, where he will continue strengthening his skills while encouraging other job seekers by sharing his journey.

Because of programs like Peer Support, individuals like Forrest are not only gaining employment skills — they are building confidence, leadership, and a voice in their own future.
